I often forget there is a reason I chose not to put our kids in a traditional educational program. We don't run at the pace of public schools. They don't make the rules for our homeschool...we do!

Sometimes we just need to take a step back and enjoy the wonder of this beautiful world. Slow down. Take a walk. Explore creation. Laugh. Play. Create. Most importantly, allow yourself to make beautiful memories with your children while you have the opportunity to do so.

Your children will surprise you with how quickly they finish their bookwork. The time it takes to teach a handful of children is totally different than teaching a full classroom. One of the best things about homeschooling is the ability to concentrate on your child's personal development..

Your children were gifted to you for a short time to guide and influence. It's your highest calling as a parent.

Your home is not a classroom, so you don't have to turn it into one. We do school together on the sofa or at the dining room table. Reading is often done out on the trampoline or porch swing. Let your own lifestyle set the tone and always remember: Life is school.

Maybe you're prayerfully deciding if you will keep your children home this next school year, or maybe you've already made this unexpected decision. Even if you are a working parent, it is doable!

Most of all, don't try to do this homeschool thing alone. Find a seasoned mom who is willing to talk you off the ledge on the days you want to quit. Find another family to partner with. Find and join a group or co-op or families, who encourage each other through this journey. AND find time for your kids to interact with their friends and meet new people. I'd be happy to help you with any of these! This is all important to yours and their mental well-being. We were created for community!

I won't lie and tell you it will be easy, but I WILL tell you it will be worth it in every way! There will always be adjustments, but God didn't call you to this place to leave you without His power to press on. No matter if you choose this path for a year or for their remaining years, hold on for one of the greatest roller coaster rides! Jesus is your unmoving stability bar and will NEVER let you fail. You got this mama. xoxo, Tia
